Panthers lose to Colonial Beach Drifters – Final Score 6 to 8

The Charles City Panther Football traveled to the northern neck in order to face the Colonial Beach Drifters but came away with a loss. The final score was 6 to 8. The game was the Panthers first game of the season and it was a  marred with heavy rains.

Colonial Beach got on the board first with a six yard touchdown run by Dion Gonzalez in the first quarter.  The conversion failed and the Drifters were up 6 to zero.

The panthers would respond in the second quarter with a ten yard touchdown pass from Jovan Howard to Dominique Williams.  The conversion attempt failed and the game was tied at 6 apiece at halftime.

Both offenses struggled in the harsh weather and a late safety on the panthers would prove to be the difference in the game with a final score of 8 to 6.   Charles City only managed to 72 yards rushing and 26 yards passing during the game.  Cruz Adkins led the defense with 12 tackles.
