Charles City beats Arcadia and qualifies for Playoffs – Final Score 46 to 22

Charles City’s football team qualified for the playoffs for the 3rd year in a row after defeating the Arcardia Firebirds on November 4, 2011.

A nice pass from Avery Jones to Jovan Howard setup a short run for a score by running back Tesean Greene.  The panthers would get the ball back after Arcadia failed to get anything going on offense.  Jones and Williams connected on a nice pass play which was followed by another Jones to Williams pass for a touchdown.  After a successful conversion, the panthers were up 16-0.

Arcadia was able to get to the panther 5 yard line, but a fumble was picked up by panther Jovan Howard who would go the distance for a touchdown to put Charles City up 24-0 after another 2 point conversion.   Arcadia would get the ball back briefly.  On the first play of their next possession, Terrance Banks ripped the ball out of the running back’s hands and returned it for a defensive touchdown.  Another good conversion made the score 32-0.

The firebirds would finally get something going on offensively with a long reverse by Antonio Brown took the ball into the red zone.  Arcadia QB Tevin Poulson would then get into the end zone on a bootleg run and cut the lead to 32-8.

Charles City scored again on a Justin Brown run to make it 40-8.

Poulson would lead the next Arcadia scoring drive by making a nice kickoff return.  Poulson capped the drive off with another touchdown run.

Jones would keep the scoring going with a 50 yard touchdown run up the middle.  The conversion failed, but the panthers were up 46 to 16.

The last score of the night would come on a short run by Arcadia’s Darren Brown.  The final score was 46-22.

Avery Jones had over 200 all purpose yards while scoring one touchdown running and one throwing.  Dominique Williams had 7 catches for 91 yards to go along with a touchdown grab.  Jaelen Williams led the defense with 8 tackles.  The panthers had 4 fumble recoveries during the game and two of these were returned for scores.  Seven different panther players scored in this game.

Arcadia was led by running backs Ronnie Holden with 45 yards rushing, running back Antonio Brown with 58 yards rushing and quarterback Tevin Poulson with 45 yards rushing to go with his two scores.
